Working with third years

My third year student was Laura Boyle, pathway B. I found every week working with third years very exciting and interesting but i also felt nervous at the same time, due to not knowing what work we had to do for them. As soon as i met Laura i felt a lot calmer as her collection was unique and individual i took a lot of inspiration from this by looking at the shapes on her garments and photo copying her final line up. Her collection was based on church shapes, 1940's housewives and fetishes. I loved the way she had taken shapes from church roofs and made a whole garment from this by bagging out each piece of fabric, it was very carefully planned out and very well made. I asked Laura where she had bought her fabrics from as they were very pretty floral cottons in green and pink. They were mainly from Wales, and H. Samuel's in Leeds.
The image shows one of the fabrics Laura used and also the shape based on a church which has been bagged out.

I have learnt a lot about myself and which pathway to take, i feel that pathway B is more for me as I prefer just designing and making rather than making a model of the actual shop. I wondered around the studio's to see what pathway A students were making, but i feel this pathway just isn't for me.
CHURCH IMAGES
One of my tasks for my third year was to take pictures of churches around Leeds and capture close up of details and old decorations. Here are some of the images from this.

My favourite part of working with the third years was handing out flayers looking for models for the final catwalk show. This was a great opportunity to talk and interact with people. All the girls were delighted to be asked.
I felt the downfall of this module was just waiting around for a job to be given, but overall it was worth the time.
This module has made me look back on past projects and realised how i could improve theme, due to mood boards and fabric samples, it has inspired me looking through third year sketchbooks.
FINAL COLLECTION
The images show my third years final collection which has been photographed in a Forest to create a 'Dolly Girl' pretty look.

Overall this has strongly advised me to take pathway B.
